As you know, the City Council was supposed to ratify your new contract at last night's meeting. Instead, HR pulled the contract vote from the City Council agenda and the Council did not have the chance to vote.
Part of the conflict: At 5:12pm last Friday, October 5, HR emailed the Union an "updated" version of the contract that was different from anything the Union had seen before and that contained many new problems. This was the version HR intended to provide to the City Council for ratification.
Yesterday, Mina Hanssen, Salem HR, repeatedly said that if the Union disagreed with the City's latest version of the contract, that she would pull it from the Council agenda, even after the Union Bargaining Team flagged all the problems with HR's Friday night version.
The Union contacted the Oregon Employment Relations Board yesterday afternoon as soon as we found out that HR pulled the contract from the City Council agenda. We are also planning a rally, so please watch for that info.
And please remember, any response you want to send to this message should come from a non-City email and be directed to email@example.com.
